How to compress 1080p without losing resolution
Drop your 1080p video above — it's processed locally, never uploaded.
The "Reduce to 720p" option is already OFF, so resolution stays Full HD. Pick a target size.
Click Compress video and download the smaller 1080p file.
Resolution vs. file size
They're not the same thing. A 1080p video can be big or small depending on its bitrate. SumoSquash keeps
the pixel dimensions at 1920×1080 and lowers the bitrate to hit your target size, so the video looks sharp but
weighs less. Because Full HD needs more data to look clean, choose a slightly larger target (e.g. 50 MB) than
you would for a 720p clip.
Can I compress without lowering resolution?
Yes — keep 1080p and lower the bitrate instead. Leave 720p downscaling off.
Why is my 1080p file still large?
Full HD needs more bitrate; pick a bigger target size to avoid artifacts.
Is it private?
Yes — it runs entirely in your browser; nothing is uploaded.
